An open panel timber frame is generally delivered to site with the structural timber frame and external sheathing in place, with much of the insulation, airtightness and internal build-up completed afterwards.

With a closed panel timber frame system, considerably more of the wall build-up can be completed in a controlled factory environment before the panels arrive on site.
